Standing straight up, place feet hip width apart and engage your abs. Bring shoulders up towards your ears while keeping arms straight down by your sides. Hold for a 3-count of Squeeze-It-In, then release.  Keep head and spine aligned throughout and arms down by your sides as you shrug your shoulders up.

Variation: For additional resistance hold books, soup cans or dumbbells in your hands.

Video: Checkout Stretch Out

Your shopping may be done, but your workout isn’t over yet!  Get a good stretch with our Checkout Stretch Out.

With both hands on your cart rest the foot of one leg above the knee of the opposite leg.  Bend the standing leg and sit down into the stretch. Hold for at least a 3-count of “Squeeze-It-In” and switch legs.

Variation:  Engage your abs and let go of the cart and this stretch becomes a one legged-squat.  Hold each squat for a 3-count of “Squeeze-It-In.”  Complete one set of 12 on each leg.

Video: Grab Abs

This advanced move will have you grabbing great abs while grabbing your groceries.

With cart in front of you and feet firmly planted hip width apart, engage your abs and push the cart forward far enough that your arms are extended, but your elbows are not locked.  Keep feet in place and use your abs to bring cart back toward you.  This movement originates from your abs with the help of your arms.  It is very important to keep your abs engaged throughout this challenging move.  If you feel any pain in your lower back, please discontinue this movement.  Work up to one set of 12 or more.

Video: Legs In Line

Make the most of waiting in line with our Legs In Line move.

While standing at your cart lift one leg off the ground with toes pointed up and heel down.  Slowly move your foot in clockwise circles. Keep this movement slow and controlled, focusing on using your inner thigh to bring the leg around.  After 30 seconds, reverse direction and make counterclockwise circles, focusing on using your outer thigh muscle to move the leg around.

Variation: To make this exercise more challenging let go of the cart.  Make sure to engage your abs to maintain your balance.
