Nutrition: Fighting Breast Cancer
SqueezeItIn.com GirlsOctober is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and each Friday this month SqueezeItIn.com will be featuring nutrition tips, fitness facts, and recovery exercises designed to help you prevent, fight, or battle back from this all too common killer.
Why? Like most of you, breast cancer has touched our lives through a mother, mother-in-law, or friend. As two moms of two beautiful daughters (and some handsome sons, too) we know the potentially life-saving importance of setting the right example when it comes to cancer prevention – and that means good nutrition and physical activity. It’s the driving passion behind our mission to teach you how to “let life be your workout” and help even the busiest women make fitness fit.
We are thrilled that Nikki Ver Steeg, a Registered Dietician, Certified Wellness Coach, and founder of Your Diet Designer, LLC has contributed cancer-fighting nutrition tips for us to share with you each Friday this month.
In fact, “Nutrition: How to SqueezeItIn” will often be our Friday theme. Just as you can’t have a complete workout without cardio, you can’t have a firm fitness plan without good nutrition. We hope to provide you with fast, easy, clever ways to SqueezeItIn.com from exercising to eating right.
Here is this week’s wonderful breast cancer fighting tip from Nikki Ver Steeg, Your Diet Designer:
Nutrition – the powerhouse cancer fighter. Also the missing link in most cancer treatment plans. Take an active part in your breast cancer fight and improve your diet. You can lower your risk significantly by going from a processed Western diet to a whole foods approach to eating. Make the switch today to lean protein, fatty fish, nuts, eggs, extra virgin olive oil, green tea and an abundance of fruits and vegetables. This diet high in antioxidants and good quality nutrition can get that cancer on the run.
